Hello, My name is Dr. Holly Carlisle Georgeson.

I am a Chiropractor and Certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy. I am qualified to preform spinal manipulation on horses, dogs and cats (but currently I am only working on dogs and cats). Each exam and spinal manipulation is done in the exam room with the owner (if they choose to watch) and can average anywhere from 20-30 minute appointments. Most of my spinal manipulation is followed by laser treatments and water therapy. Why does my animal need spinal manipulation?

First, every doctor knows the brain and nervous system, whether it is in horses, dogs or humans, controls and coordinates all body functions from breathing, to digestion, to muscular movements. Second, pressure exerted on nerves from misalignment of bones, ligaments and tendons decreases the nerves ability to carry messages between the brain and the body. This can result in pain, altered body function and inefficient movement. Chiropractic care serves to restore normal nerve activity by gently moving bones, ligaments and tendons back into alignment, so your animal, no matter what kind, can function and live fully and happily.

How long does my animal need care?

There is no general rule of thumb because it depends on the animal’s age and condition. Once your animal gets relief from any problems, such as a painful gait, or abnormal body function, you may choose to continue with some type of periodic care. “Wellness” care helps support structural changes and helps resolve new problems before you know they exist.Chiropractic works by finding the cause of the problem, attempts to eliminate that cause and then allows the body to heal itself. Keep in mind that your dog may or may not experience any symptoms of spinal misalignment but a regular check-up will help to prevent any problems that may arise in the future!

There are many signs that can tell you that your animal could benefit from spinal manipulation, here are just a few common indications:
